The Crisis
Puerto Rico is in the midst of a mental health crisis. Rates of depression, anxiety, and PTSD are higher than on the mainland U.S. but access to care is very limited. The island lacks the infrastructure, trained providers, and funding to meet even the most basic mental health needs. But in this challenge lies a historic opportunity, we have the chance to build something new, from the ground up.

Our Solution
The Pravan Foundation is creating a modern, community-based model of mental health care for Puerto Rico, one that integrates evidence-based therapies, psychedelic-assisted treatments, and culturally competent care.
Our work is already making an impact:

• Training dozens of local clinicians in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
•  Launched a groundbreaking public awareness campaign
•  Partnered with the University of Puerto Rico to begin vital research
• Developing scientific articles on psychedelic use in Puerto Rico, highlighting sociodemographic trends and public health reflections to foster evidence-based dialogue on mental health and emerging therapies.

What’s Next
We’re just getting started and the momentum is building. This September, we’re hosting Puerto Rico’s first Psychedelic Mental Health Summit, uniting global experts, funders, and local leaders.
 

We’re also preparing to open a new Mental Health Clinic that will include psychedelic assisted therapy, with a Community Access Program to serve patients regardless of income. To make this vision a reality, we need to raise $500,000.
